Stitching Success, Empowering Lives!

How can a mother earing just Rs.100 (about US $ 0.35) a day earn at least thrice as much and become self-sufficient? Happy Threads, inspired by the vision of His Holiness Dr.Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, the leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community that the women in the community be empowered to live happy, fulfilled lives in accordance with their central position in family and society, is the answer. Today, Happy Threads Pakistan has achieved this for nearly 350+ women from over Sindh.

Empowering Women through Crochet

Following the direction from His Holiness and based on the findings of an in-depth survey of the skill sets of women in need, Happy Threads decided to focus on artisans skilled in crochet as it is deep-rooted in Dawoodi Bohra culture, is portable and requires little equipment beyond the crochet hook. Happy Threads provides women with a sustainable and scalable product development, sales and marketing operation platform through which they can earn a reasonable living, their skills and crafts are valued, and they are motivated to continue learning and developing themselves.

The Gift That Sparked A Movement

His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the leader of the global Dawoodi Bohra community, received an unexpected present during one of his vist to Burhanpur, India – Apacket of ‘papad’ (a cracker-like bread). This humble gift, lovingly prepared by a young girls mother for their daily sustenance, held a deeper story. Upon further inquiry, it came to light that this family’s daily income amounted to a mere 100 rupees, a sum grossly insufficient to sustain a single person, let alone an entire family. Touched by this revelation, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin was moved to action. He instructed his own family members , particularly the women within his family, to extend a helping hand to those hardworking women who, despite their relentless efforts, earned so little. This pivotal movement lead to the inception of SUPERMOMS4U foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to uplift these unsung heroes. Under its umbrella, “Happy Threads” was born, serving as an initiative dedicated to making a difference in the lives of women who work tirelessly to make ends meet. The story of “Happy Threads” is a testament to the compassion and commitment of the Dowoodi Bohra community. It embodies the essence of soliditary and relentless pursuit of a better life for those who deserve it the most. Through this initiative, we endeavor to transform countless lives, one stitch at a time.
